Mr. Spano joined Cerberus in 2014 and is a Managing Director for Cerberus Business Finance, Cerberus’ middle-market direct lending platform.
Mr. Spano oversees various aspects across the lending platform, including the origination, due diligence review, structuring, and execution of new investments. Cerberus Business Finance, which is a recognized leader and innovator in the leveraged financed industry, has provided financing to more than 245 financial sponsors as well as completed loan transactions with approximately 1,000 borrowers. With significant repeat business of leading companies and private equity sponsors, Cerberus Business Finance has become one of the largest origination platforms in the United States.
Prior to joining Cerberus, Mr. Spano was a Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal from 2009 to 2014, where he was responsible for advising underperforming companies. Mr. Spano also held various positions in the Investment Banking Division of Lehman Brothers, including in its Telecommunications, Restructuring and Financial Sponsors practices. Prior to Lehman Brothers, Mr. Spano held various corporate positions and began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP and is a former CPA.
Mr. Spano graduated University of Tampa and received an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
