Mr. Millstein is the Chairman of Cerberus’ Global Real Estate and Non-Performing Loan platforms. Until 2024, Mr. Millstein served as President of Cerberus Global Investments and Global Head of Real Estate for Cerberus, where he led the Firm’s global real estate franchise and helped establish Cerberus as a global leader in real estate, real estate-related strategies, and non-performing loans.
From 2009 to 2017, he served as Head of European and Asian Real Estate and Distressed Assets and led Cerberus’ investments in European non-performing loan portfolios, commercial real estate, and residential mortgages. Under Mr. Millstein’s leadership, Cerberus has become one of the world’s largest and most experienced investors in the non-performing loan space and since 2013, the Firm has been a leading purchaser of non-performing loan portfolios in Europe.
Prior to joining Cerberus in 2007, Mr. Millstein was Head of Corporate and Investment Banking for Aozora Bank, where he was responsible for the bank’s corporate lending, real estate, leveraged lending, structured credit, and principal investing businesses. From 1994 to 2004, he was at Morgan Stanley, most recently as Managing Director and Head of High-Yield and Distressed Principal Investing in Japan and non-Japan Asia.
Mr. Millstein graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania’s The Wharton School. He is on the Board of Directors for GO Project, a non-profit supporting educational equity in New York City, and the PREA Foundation, an organization advancing diversity and inclusion in the real estate industry.
